Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (simplified Chinese: 无尽对决; pinyin: wújìn duìjué) is a massively multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed and published by Moonton, a subsidiary of ByteDance. Released in 2016, the game has since become popular in Southeast Asia and was one of the selected games for the first esports event at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. It was developed in the Philippines. In July 2018, Tencent (which developed a similar game, Arena of Valor) on behalf of Riot Games, won a legal case at the Shanghai No.1 Representative Court for People against Moonton's CEO, Watson Xu Zhenhua (who previously worked at Tencent as a senior employee), for violating the non-compete agreement as well as borrowing Mobile Legends from League of Legends, where he was awarded US$2.9 million in compensation.
