Fred the Racoon (RKUN)

Fred the raccoon was a companion to Peanut the Squirrel and shared a close bond as his cohort. In October 2024, Fred was seized alongside Peanut by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation due to regulations against keeping wild animals as pets. Both animals were tragically euthanized to test for rabies following the seizure, although subsequent tests confirmed neither was infected. Fred’s fate, tied closely with Peanut’s, contributed to the public outrage and debate about animal rights and government overreach that followed.
