Digital Nigeria Pounds (DNP) is a next-generation digital currency designed for low-cost African and international payments, merchant settlement, remittances, savings, and commerce within a trusted decentralized network.

DNP positions itself as a digital unit of account used within a voluntary network. Users remain free to transact in naira, dollars, pounds, or other currencies alongside DNP. DNP makes no claim of government backing — it operates as an independent, community-governed digital asset.

Built as a fork of Solana's high-performance architecture, DNP addresses key shortcomings in existing blockchain financial systems: high gas fees, slow cross-border transfers, limited African financial infrastructure support, and complex merchant onboarding. DNP delivers sub-second finality with gas fees as low as 0.00025 DNP per transaction.
